Living in accommodation on the beach, you will spend your time patrolling the beaches for nesting turtles and will be directly involved in tagging, measuring and monitoring the turtles. Most of the work takes place at night and a late breakfast and coffee allow you to settle down for the rest of the day and relax to the sounds of the jungle backdrop. You may also have the opportunity to go on excursions such as camping trips to the outer cays and a variety of water based activities. Volunteers just need to inform GVI of the date they are planning to arrive. Please note that due to the length of the turtle hatching season this project only runs between the 25th Mar - 15th June except by special arrangement. Qualifications required: No previous experience or foreign language skills are required, but volunteers must be able to work as part of a team, have a strong interest in wildlife and conservation. Days can be tiring but are inspirational, educational and always fun. Participants must be enthusiastic, adventurous and respectful of their host country’s culture and environment.
